“Bring community and belonging to everyone in the world”
“A culture media platform where anonymity paves the way for truth”
The first is Reddit’s tagline.
The second is Reddit’s mission.
The third is what I believe to be Reddit’s secret sauce.
If you know Reddit, chances are you really know Reddit.
As for me—I’ve been a longtime redditor who swore by the platform well before I even thought aboutthe possibility of working here.
To me, Reddit was different from other social media platforms in that it wasn’t just a mirror up to culture, but rather the medium in which culture was cultivated.
It’s the place where passionate communities around the most niche of interests band together and share content and celebrate (or consensually mock) each other.
For that—and many other reasons to point to—Reddit is an outlier among its “social media” siblings.
I believe Reddit to be a “culture media” platform.
(Damn Kool-Aid.)
Today, I’m on the Global Insights Team, the front line of uncovering trends and longstanding modern movements born or amplified on Reddit.
My role sits at the intersection of platform data + user behavior and powerful marketing narratives. I tap into the power of the culture media platform, understanding and leveraging the fundamental cultural truths of our communities.
I analyze what’s happening on Reddit to tell data-driven marketing stories.
